NEW FOOD DISTRIBUTION INITIATIVE– COVID 19 CRISIS

Our Hearts Will Not Be Social Distanced Though Our Bodies May Be

April, 2020, HopeNow International along with our Living Water 4 Roatan initiative and our Community of Faith Church are joining with caring organizations and people both locally and throughout the United States to stand in the gap as hundreds of adults and children teeter the balance.

In one of the most challenging regions of the third world, in an area where the only source of economy has been shut down, there are children and at risk adults who need our help to survive.

CLEAN WATER = Life
For many years, as many of you know, we have been providing the only source of clean drinkable water for thousands of people in polycarpo galindo Roatan Honduras. Our clean water wells consist of several pump stations, huge massive water tanks and literally miles and miles of PVC pipes that route throughout the mountainside. We are in essence a nonprofit utilities company for a major geographic area which is run by locals. Through our clean water wells, we have a matrix of PVC pipes spreading throughout the mountainside with over a thousand off shoots of PVC pipes entering dwellings, each home has an end of the pipe filling up a barrel or barrels of clean water that they use for drinking, cooking, and cleaning.

ACCESS TO FOOD = Life
At the beginning of this virus crisis we took advanced action and asked our head of water clean water operations and ministries , Marvin who lives on the island, to take on the additional responsibility of food acquisition and distribution. With most families losing employment due to the shutting down of the sole source of economy, the tough situation that they have been living in just got worse.

We’re not looking at dealing with just minor inconvenience or challenges, we’re looking at a situation faced by thousands that is dire. I ask you to please for just a moment to consider your mother, or grandmother or one of your children to be living in dwelling with no running water, no bathroom, possibly a dirt floor or just wood floor, no windows. When we also consider what our Lord and Master has commanded us, to love our neighbors as ourselves we have many opportunities to take action. If you are already engaged in efforts or are already helping another organization, have already made a donation this month then we thank you for your love and your intent. If this is the case then all that we ask is that the next time you do give please consider our noble and vital efforts. If you have not already taken personal action or helped an effort related to this crisis then we ask for your help right now.

We’re keeping the water flowing and we thank every single person organization that supports this effort. Now we’re asking for your additional assistance in helping us to continually purchase food that we can distribute according to our well organized plan.

Food Distribution occurs in multiple areas on the island that are the hardest hit by this crisis. $10 purchases a bag of food that can support a family for up to two weeks.  We estimate over 30,000 people on the island are without work and without means to purchase even the basis food supplies.
